Hearts and Bones

Loving comments about these special Westies from their new guardians...
Annie, female, born 1991

I have enjoyed being Annie's rescuer for two years and four months.  She is a happy sweet Westie who still has separation anxiety.  This very week she added a new skill, or perhaps remembered one, when she joined my other two Westies in a rousing game of chase the ball.  Since she is deaf and has poor eyesight, I cheated so she could compete successfully.  She is a treasure!

Molly,  female, born 1993
Two years ago in August, Molly Magee found her way to our doorstep and into our hearts.  Sadly, she had been abandoned and was wandering around scared and injured.  With the help of Pam and Westie Rescue we nursed her back to health.  She had a foxtail in her eye and three benign tumors removed.  This May, Molly made even more friends at UC Davis where she received a pacemaker for her failing heart.  Today Molly is healthy and happy.  She loves her life and her brother MacGregor and has enriched our life in more ways than we could have imagined.

Murphy, male, born 2000

Murphy is very loving, friendly with people and other dogs.  But he has about two dozen toys which he tears their heads off.  He loves to play with the seaweed on the beach.  Murphy thinks it is his job to steal everyone's ball on the beach.

~~ Rozalia Bernstein

Casper, male, born 1999

Casper has come a long way from the scared, shy dog we rescued 2 1/2 years ago.  He is more secure and more assertive.  And he is the BEST dog ever.  Casper loves to play "Kong" and chase the squirrel that stops on the fence to see if Casper can come play.

~~ Mary Adams

Bobby, male, born 1996

Bobby is a treasure, loves people, bonded to us immediately.  He loves his morning walks and all the neighbors comment on how self-possessed and handsome he is as he trots along with his tail as straight as a flagpole.  I can not imagine why anyone would want to part with him, but their loss is our gain.

~~ Sue Talia

Josef, male, born 1990

Josef is our messenger of sounds.  He hears and sometimes "speaks" for our 16 year old Westie.  He shares his love for us by staying close and is very protective.  His favorite walks are those filled with new sights and smells, often reluctant to leave this scent of adventure.

~~ Sylvia and Alan Franke

Bailie, male, born about 1996

Bailie is a wonderful Westie!  His favorite pastimes are taking all of his toys out of his basket and placing them around the house, chasing squirrels across the lawn, taking walks to the park and napping for a good part of the day now that he has become a "senior".  Bailie loves attention and enjoys visits from our 6-year-old grandson, Trevor.  Many thanks to Pam Evans for bringing this delightful Westie into our lives!

~~ Jean and Dave Delwiche

Riker, male, born 1992

Riker was 10 years old when he joined our family.  He has been with us for one year and has brought us lots of joy.  Riker is a very independent dog but he has endearing ways of letting us know when he wants attention.  He is a fierce defender of his territory and is constantly on patrol in the yard.  When the neighborhood critters get bored they come to our house to tease the Westie.  He loves to ride in the car, walk the aisles of the local stores and his favorite thing is chasing squirrels in the park.

~~ Leon and Susan Brown

Riley, male, born Unknown

When we first brought home we dubbed him the White Tornado.  He was everywhere at once.  He has since shown us that he is a very friendly, loveable guy that loves to give full face kisses all the time.  He is quick to roll over for a tummy rub and he likes to stretch his body.  Riley is great squirrel chaser and knows every inch of our neighborhood park.  It has been awhile since we have had a young dog in our home and I had forgotten how hard it is to make a bed with a Westie following my every move on top of it.

~~ Leon and Susan Brown

Chloe, female, born 2000

Chloe seemed to understand from day one that her role in life was to be a loving companion to us and in return she would receive the love and care second only to our daughter.  She leads the Life of Riley including a spot to sleep between us on the King Size bed.  Do Rescues realize that they're getting a second chance and they won't need a third?

~~ Jim and Barbara Thurston

Brodie, male, born 2001

Brodie came to us in December 2002, immediately making himself at home, following Chloe around as if to say "Anything you want to do, Chloe, is fine with me."  He seems to understand that Chloe is boss and likes to cuddle up with Barbara, so he will sit on Jim's lap and immediately go to sleep.  He loves to prance and chase everything we throw.

~~ Jim and Barbara Thurston

Coconut, male, born 2003

Coconut is the bestest thing that ever happened to me in my whole life.  I love him up to the sky.

~~ Megan Seidel (Age 6)
