Loving comments about these special Westies from their new guardians...
Annabelle, female, born 2004

Annabelle is a sweet, loving, gentle and happy little girl who brings me much joy and she is also a very good watchdog.  Annabelle loves to play with her toys and loves it when I play "chase" with her around the house while she is holding a toy in her mouth.  Annabelle loves to go on walks and puts the brakes on when she knows her walk is almost over.  She is a real love.

Lady Whitney,  female, born about 1994
Little Lady!  You came to our house only yesterday -- so small and a little shy.  Quietly you checked the house and yard trying to fit in, wanting to be close to someone.  It was a big day for such a little girl.  Today you smiled at me with your eyes and tail.  It is the beginning of many happy days together -- you are home!

Angie, female, born 2002

The arrival of Angie came at the right time in our lives.  She has made our family complete.  The sight of her always brightens our day.  She has a sweet, loving disposition and loves to chase and play like a puppy.  Thank you SFBWHWTC Rescue!

Casper, male, born 1999

Hi, my name is Casper.  I am the King of the castle.  I get to go to the motor home and go boating.  I'll play ball with you whenever you like.  I'll even play dead - for the right treat.  Everybody loves me because I am the best dog ever - just ask my people.

~~ Mary Adams

Josef, male, born 1998

Josef is happiest when he has company.  Exploring walking trails and participating in Novice training classes are his favorite activities.  He performs "happy tricks" by rolling once on his back and by chasing his toys.  He brings a smile to our hearts every day.

Danny Boy, male, born 1994

A classy retired show dog who enjoys napping, walking and hunting cats equally.  A wonderful companion at home and traveling.  We were both lucky to him come live with us.

~~ Marilyn Rogers

Bailie, male, born about 1996

Bailie came to us from Westie Rescue in January 1999 and he is a very special part of our lives. He loves his toys and entertains himself (and us) with them.  He particularly enjoys visits from our grandchildren and follows them everywhere.  Squirrels don't stand a chance in our yard when Bailie is around!  He has a daily walk to the park and everyone in the neighborhood knows him.  We love him very much!

Riker, male, born 1992

Almost every day Leon will say to me "Riker is such a great dog."  He really is and we are so lucky to have him with us.  Each morning when Riker gets back from his ride to get the newspapers, he sits on the patio looking toward the sky waiting for the first squirrel of the day to travel across the telephone lines.  He is never disappointed.  In addition to chasing squirrels and guarding his territory, Riker loves to play tug.  He will take a toy and hit Riley over the head or in the face as many times as it takes until Riley gets the idea and plays too.

Riley, male, born Unknown

Just look at our Riley.  Last year he was still recovering from the skin condition that he had when he was rescued.  We adopted the ugly duckling and were rewarded with the handsome prince.  Riley is our lover boy.  He can't give you enough kisses.  He is secure now, always friendly, happy and confident in his role in our family.  He lets Riker take the lead and follows along with his tail held high.

Chloe, female, born 2000

My name is Chloe and my favorite pastime is going for a walk in the park with Brodie and Barbara.  I have to be very careful in the morning and not leave Barbara's side until we leave just in case she goes without me.  She never has yet, but you can't be too careful.  Brodie follows Jim everywhere and I like to stick to Barbara 'cause I don't want her to be lonely.  My brother and I have a great yard that is populated with some very pesky squirrels.  Brodie and I chase them and one day we'll catch 'em.  So far they've managed to elude us.  We'll never give up though.  Barbara and Jim are always telling us how lucky they are to have us.  We think we're lucky too!

Brodie, male, born 2001

I came to live with Jim, Barbara and Chloe soon after tragically lost Chloe's sister, Bridget, and I knew I had big paws to fill.  Barbara takes us for a walk every weekend and during the week when she's home and my sister Chloe and I just love it.  I try to be a good little guy and play with Chloe every chance I get.  She likes to wrestle with me but she always is the Boss.  But that's OK because we still have fun.  Sometime I tease her and goad her into playing.  I follow Jim around everywhere 'cause he's a good guy and feeds me doggie biscuits and scratches my ears.  I love chasing balls but I don't bring them back - after all, I'm not a retriever.

Mister Angus McDuff, male, born about 2000

Mister Angus McDuff is a truly tenacious terrier!  At 4 years he enjoys sitting in the yard under the Squirrel tree watching and waiting.  he is a very patient boy.  Cats are no longer welcome and Angus also believe he can fly when a bird is in view.  His other joy is playing with his brother, Baxter, wrestling, chasing and playing tug of war.  What a joy they are to watch.

~~ Barbara Mordy

Travis, male, born 2003

Travis came to me when he was only four months old.  I feel very blessed to have him in my life even though he at times can be "very full of himself."  He is funny, sweet, mischievous and extremely loving.  His favorite thing in the world is to go to the dog park and play with his buddies.  As Travis would say:  "Life is good."

Wee Willie Wallace (Willie), male, born 1998

When Willie's first owner died, he went to a family member, but Willie and their dog didn't get along.  Willie went to the Mendocino Humane Society around August 2003 with the information that he didn't get along with other dogs, wasn't house broken and hated cats.  By chance my husband saw him and told me.  Our rescued Scottie got along find, so I adopted him.  His house manner have improved.  Although he likes to chase cats, he is great friends with our two.  He is loveable, comical and playful.  He is a wonderful addition to our home.

~~ Mary Shepherd

Tody, male, born 1992

Tody came into our lives in August 2000.  We agreed to be foster guardians until a permanent home could be found.  In a very short while this foster family applied for Tody's adoption.  From the get go Tody had the enthusiasm and curiosity of a puppy.  He accepted his role as the newcomer in our 3-westie-5-dog-home and quickly worked his way into the hearts of all six of us.  Tody is a most loving and loyal companion who's only "fault" is that he follows Cathy around so closely and quietly that he has earned the nickname "my shadow" and occasionally gets entangled in her feet.  Tody is a love.

LuLu, female, born 1993

LuLu is a 14 lb. fireball who found her way into our home and our hearts in June 2003.  She is mightily independent and although she does not readily trust outsiders, LuLu quickly established herself as "boss" of our two older Westies, Mac 13 and Tody 12 and the two big dogs, Molly 8 and Cold 7.  She is still trying to train John but has accepted Cathy as her protector and best friend.  LuLu is a joy.

Katie, female, born 2002 (Absent)

Several years ago we lost our Shelties and our Westie "Hank" went into a depression.  Our vet told us to get him a friend to perk thing up.  Luckily through rescue we were gifted with "KATIE".  She was about 4 months old and very spirited and she was the first female dog we ever had. She got Hank up and going even though he was 10 -- she got all of us up and going.  We have loved every minute of it.  Recently, we lost Hank and having learned from before we jumped right in and now Katie has two new Westie sisters.  Now there is never a dull minute around here.
