Loving comments about these special Westies from their new guardians...

DIXIE & DUDLEY – 3 1/2 years old

I adopted Dixie and Dudley from the SFBWHWTC Rescue 3 years ago when they were 3 months old. I am so blessed to have found these angels. Dixie was first on the scene but gave a big welcome to Dudley a month later. They are well matched (Dixie always wins and Dudley doesn’t care). They are both very social. They have a play date Monday - Friday with a trainer and 9 other dogs. One is a Great Dane but I am sure all you Westie owners know that Dixie and Dudley think they are big dogs, too. They are full of love and life and I love them back with enthusiasm and gratitude that I am able share their lives.

DAISY – 11 years old

Daisy loves long walks and chasing squirrels who venture near our patio. Her favorite activities at obedience class are open sits and downs and recalls. Daisy is our family ambassador – greeting friends and strangers alike with licks and a wagging tail.

JOSEF – 11 years old today!

Josef gave us a scare last November when he had emergency surgery to remove a cancerous spleen. He now enjoys his new lease on life with more pep and energy. He has brought us much joy over the past 8 years. Thank you, Westie Rescue for bringing our loving Westies, Josef and Daisy to us.

***** Happy Birthday to you, Josef *****

BRITTNEY – 5 years old

The first time I met Brittney, she was very sad. Her puppies were stillborn and she was all by herself. My daughter Kristie and I loved her from the start. She is a beautiful Westie. Britt wants to be together all the time. She is kind and happy. She likes to chase squirrels in the back yard and plays with every toy. Thank you, Pam for our little Westie girl.

ROSIE – 10 years old

Rosie and I have been together for over a year now and what a fun year it has been!  Rosie’s original owners felt that after she lost her eyesight, she required a bit more attention than they could give her. What a lucky day it was for me when I found Rosie at the rescue site on line. Rosie is an excellent “assistant” nanny a couple of days a week with me, loves to socialize with other dogs and really enjoys life as well as any sighted dog!

EMMA – 14 years old

Emma is a bright and loving member of our family. We would be lost if she were not with us. She tells us when she is happy… when she knows we are going to take her for a walk and she tells us when she is sad… when we leave without her. She is a love-bug.

BONNIE PRINCE CHARLIE – 8 years old

Charlie is forever grateful for the love and care shown by the club in his rescue. He continues to best represent his Westie heritage by chasing squirrels and enthusiastically greeting all those he meets… up to 2 blocks away!

TRAVIS & ELMO - 6 & 4 years old

Travis came to me six years ago and he is a very special Westie. He has many issues that are annoying and endearing at the same time. Travis is a very typical Westie – loving, opinionated, adorable, exasperating and is a very good “big brother” to Elmo who joined us a little over a year ago at the age of 3. Elmo is a rescue from Arkansas. They do everything together sharing the sunny spots in the house as well as the top of the couch. I could not imagine life without these two guys. They are very loved by me as well as their Mama #2, Janet Sousa, who is proudly presenting both Travis and Elmo today as I am not able to be here today.

HARRY BISCUIT – 4 years old

Handsome Harry Biscuit was rescued by our club last November and diagnosed with life threatening heartworm disease. He loves his new life of being a spoiled, much loved Westie.  His message to you is… “Please give your pets a once a month heartworm pill!”
~ Marie Thompson

CASPER  – 10 years old

Casper is a very mellow fellow… unless, of course, there is a squirrel or a crow in his territory. His hobbies are “motor homing”, chasing balls and going for walks – And annoying his little “brother”. Casper is a very loving Dog.

SAMANTHA JOY -- Almost 2 years old

I only need a few words to describe Samantha Joy – she is an angel!  She loves to swim in our creek and play ball. She is very social with people and dogs.
~ Mary and Andy Murphy

IZZY -- 4 years old

When Lance and Chris took Izzy into foster care 5 months ago, he was a really sad sight. With the help of Pam Evans’s advice, Montclair Veterinary Hospital and LOTS of medications, Izzy has mended quickly! He is now an official part of our family and Izzy, along with big brother Dewey, couldn’t be happier!

DAISY RICHARDS -- 4 years old

Daisy is a sweet dog, family oriented. When she meets other dogs, she gets very excitable and sometimes is intimidated. She gets along with my other dog but she wants to be the pack leader. She is super fast too. We don’t take her off the leash.

SUGAR – Female, born February 2003

Don’t let her name fool you…she is 100% terrier. Of course, she is prone to endless hugs and face licks, but when it is time to play, she wants to do it NOW…not later…NOW!!!  We absolutely adore her combination of sweetness and true Westie spunk. She runs the show on walks. Sugar lets it be known that she is the true terrier princess!  Sugar follows Dad around the house unless there are squirrels to chase or birds to scare. She loves playing tug of war with her favorite toy - the Jack. We are so grateful to Sugar for introducing us to the Joys of Westietude.

WEBER – Male, born February 2004

Since our house seemed a bit too calm with just two Westies, we were happy to take in Weber as our foster dog. We immediately fell in love with him!!!  He was so sweet, though a little shy with our other 2, Sugar and Gus. Slowly but surely he gained confidence and now wrestles with great enthusiasm with his forever family. What a wonderful addition he has been!!!

CHARLIE – Male, born August 2006

Just when we thought we had enough Westies… we decided to add Charlie (the son of our dog Weber) to our family. We were a little worried that 3 dogs plus a 2-month-old puppy might be too much. But, no, it has been absolute joy. It has been so much fun for us to raise a Westie puppy!  Charlie is adorable and filled with true Westie spirit. He loves playing with Sugar, and Weber. He can endlessly wrestle and play tug of war. But, like the others, he also loves cuddling. We think that, with Charlie, our Westie family is complete.

ANNIE -- 9 years old

Annie and I have been together for 4 of her 9 years. She is my constant companion and best pal. She is just slightly spoiled… in the morning, she stays in (our) bed happily ensconced under the covers until summoned for breakfast. I admit, she is a chowhound… patrolling our neighborhood main street for tidbits offered by the shop-keepers. She is a mighty hunter of squirrels, pigeons and gophers but manages to utterly ignore a neighbor cat who invades her backyard. She is playful but gentle, sweet-tempered, loyal and loving. I am very lucky to have her.

~ Nancy Nee

ANNIE LAURIE - 6 1/2 years old

Everyone tells us she is very mellow. Just don’t interrupt her “one-on-one” time with her owners. She’ll tell you to go away by growling!  At least that’s what she tells “Snowy” our 10 year old Samoyed

~ Leah Meek-Powers

SOPHIE -- 4 years old

Sophie came into my life last year after I lost my beloved Annabelle to liver disease. Sophie is always full of energy and loves to run through the house almost knocking me over! She is extremely sweet, loving and gives me lots of kisses. She loves chasing squirrels and ducks and is very friendly with other dogs and people. Thank you, Pam and Dianne, for bringing this wonderful little girl into my life.

~ Linda Williams

SPROUT – Female, born August 2006

Sprout has never met a stranger! - human or canine.  She loves everyone as much as she loves life. Her BFF is Zoe.  Her job is to protect us from the squirrels that invade our yard. Sprout has brought so much joy and laughter to our house.
