Hearts and Bones

Loving comments about these special Westies from their new guardians...

Sparky, female, born January 13, 1985

Very lovable is Cubby's Mom.  She is the more aggressive.  She loves dogs, cats, kids and people -- especially men!!  She loves to have her belly rubbed and will become your best friend.  Her real name was "Barkey" and we changed it.  She can be very independent.  Both she and Cubby like to travel in the car, and we take them with us as much as possible.

Cubby, male, born May 5, 1986

He's a cuddler.  He is Sparky's son.  He tend to be quiet, except he will howl if we leave him.  He is deaf in the right ear and watches Sparky for clues as to what is going on.  He does not like to be alone and will follow you everywhere like a shadow.  He loves dogs, cats and kids.

Buttons, female, born April 1989

From Buttons herself...."All is well now.  I have a new igloo house on the deck to use when my new owners are out and it is real nice.  Also, my Dad cooks great food for me.  I am very happy with my new owners.  In the summer we swim together -- I love to bite the waves."

Sheba, female, born May 1990

Sheba is daughter #2, "storming" into our family November 1992.  She is the terminator in disguise.  At least once each week, she performs the "screaming meanies" --- tearing through the house, turning on a dime and slamming into Samantha at every opportunity.  She is also the welcome wagon for every squirrel and bird around.  Her "tomboy" approach has gotten her into trouble, as in playing too rough with our Rottweiler.  Sheba is Samantha's best buddy ambushing anything that moves. She is the joy of our lives and has become a wonderful addition to our family.

~~ Charles and Sandra Sullivan

Samantha, female, born January 12, 1988

Samantha is daughter #1 arriving in our household in January 1989.  She quickly became a companion to our year old Rottweiler, taking over the role of dominant female.  Her domain quickly became two humans, one Rottweiler and all the squirrels in the backyard.  She loves children and seeks them out whenever the opportunity arises.  "Miss Pris" as she is often called because of her "sometimes" attitude is the love of our family.

~~ Charles and Sandra Sullivan

Abby, female, born March 31, 1990

Abby is a companion, affectionate, muscular, energetic, raring to go, opossum hunter, nosy and nervy, smart and strong, warm and friendly, expressive, self-determined, tenacious, independent and an explorer.

~~ Dean and Andrea Cameron

Riker, male, born October 5, 1992

Riker was adopted in April 1995 from the SFBWHWTC Rescue and was a handful the first year.  He needed a lot of TLC, reassurance and long walks to burn off his extra energy.  He no longer shies away from your hand and now comes looking for attention, often curling up in your lap for as long as you'll let them.

~~ Paula and Loren Aiton

Shelby, female, born November 5, 1990

Shelby was adopted in Southern California in July 1992.  She lets us know if anyone is within 100 yards of our home.  She brims over with love and now has the name of "The Love Puppy".  She may seem feminine and dainty compared to Riker, but she can wrestle and play with the best of them.

~~ Paula and Loren Aiton

Piper, female, born May 4, 1993

Piper is a treasure.  She is very lively, curious and intelligent.  She is loyal and devoted to her family.  She never misses an opportunity to explore her surroundings, whether it is her own back yard, the beach or the countryside.  She loves to travel and often flies in our single-engine airplane.  She loves playing with her green ball, rope toy, plastic squeaky toys and rawhide bone.  Sometimes her enthusiasm for life overcomes her, and she launches into a "Hyper Piper Attack" -- running in circles until she is exhausted, but always with a mischievous expression on her face.  She brings joy to our family.

~~ Bob and Jan Garcia

Paddyhill's Sir MacDougall, male, born July 8, 1989

Macaroon was sold as a show dog, but was not shown because the owners decided they were too busy.  I tried to get him back, but could not.  Several years later, the couple divorced and called the Club's Rescue.  Thankfully, Pam, always calls the breeder (when known).  He is now 7 years old and loves playing with the puppies and my other Westies.  How great it is to have him back home!

~~ Alice Shepard

Mr. Mac Tavish XXXII "Mac", male, born August 4, 1992

This 20 pounds of love has changed our lives completely.  Who needs children!!

~~ Elaine Himmelman

Ellie, female, born March 25, 1987

Elenor De Westie is one of the sweetest, shiest, young ladies you could meet -- always eager to please; loves children, cats and other dogs.  I can never express the amount of joy, love and companionship that Ellie gives me.

~~ Stephen Foster

Rosie, female, born March 20, 1989

Rosie loves to eat.  Her favorite pastime is looking for her next meal.  She is very bold, aggressive and anxious to please.  She loves children, cats and other dogs.  Rosie is my "baby girl".  She is a sweetheart and I receive more joy and love than can be said here from my Rosie.

~~ Stephen Foster

Andy, male, born about 1992

We have had Andy for over two years now.  He is maybe 4 1/2 years old.  We love him.  He is a true character.  He loves our grandchildren and their dogs.  He loves everyone, whether they want it or not.  He makes us laugh and would play ball all day, if we would only do that.  He has a little sister now who was also adopted.  She is not a Westie but they are true pals.

~~ Barbara and Joe Massa

Chelsea, female, born October 19, 1988

Chelsea has been a member of our family since last October when I heard about her through the SFB Rescue.  She came with physical problems due to neglect.  But with the good care she receives from her best male friend and admirer -- her vet -- she is coming along very well.  Her best canine friends and housemates are Becky (another Westie) and sunny (a Pomeranian).  Chelsea loves to play with them, go for car rides and pull herself along the carpet, stomach down.  She also likes to "sing" as he rolls back and forth on her back.  Chelsea and I share the same birthday!  I just lost my other Westie (9 years) last year, quite suddenly, along with my cat (19 years) -- all within a 3 week period.  I really loved those two.  It was (and is) quite a heartbreak.  Chelsea's sweet and steady nature through all her hard times has really been an inspiration to me.  She is a real champion!!

~~ Mary Capley

Sandie, female, born November 28, 1990

Sandie is a lovable and affectionate dog who likes to smell the flowers.  She loves people and is very easy going.  She is especially interested in squirrels and other dogs.  She is a welcome addition to our family.

~~ The Grief-Neils

Ceilidh (Kaylee), female, born March 7, 1991

Ceilidh is very aggressive, hates cats and has her own opinion of the world.  But she is loyal, loving, my best friend and I love her very much.

~~ Lani Pattison
