DOG REGISTRATION

What Does It Really Mean?

 

A registration certificate simply identifies the pup as the offspring of a known sire and dam, born on a known date. It in no way indicates the quality or state of health of the dog.

 

Do not believe the myth that a "registered" dog or a dog "with papers" means something special.  Do not be misled into thinking a "registered" dog is a healthy dog.

 

Some breeders may take advantage of these common misconceptions to promote their puppies as "registered" or "with papers" hoping the uneducated buyer will imply or assume that they have quality pups.

 

Dog registration does not guarantee you a quality puppy any more than DMV registration guarantees you a quality car.

 

Please be aware...

• Registration does NOT indicate the quality and/or the state of health of the dog.

• Registration does NOT mean the puppy is a "show dog".

• Registration does NOT mean the puppy is healthy.

• Registration does NOT mean the puppy is breeding material.

• Registration does NOT mean the puppy conforms to the breed standard.

• Registration is NOT an endorsement of the breeder's integrity.

• Registration is NOT a stamp of approval.
