TIFFANY'S FUND
Tiffany after 10
days in our rescue program
This is
the most horrific case of animal neglect and abuse
that I have seen in my eighteen years as Rescue Chair
for the SFBWHWTC! If anyone cared about any
living creature, they would not have let her get into
this condition! Tiffany’s reason for surrender
was that her owners could not afford the cost of her
vet care. Tiffany was turned into our Rescue program
from a family that had her from puppy hood but she
came into rescue with nothing more than a collar,
leash and a small baggie of kibble. I find it totally
unacceptable that they didn’t call me sooner.
On the
Medical and Personality Profile, her previous owners
filled out, they did not indicate any favorite toys.
At my house, she goes through the toy basket and picks
out her favorites then carries them, pushes them with
her nose and licks them. She will fetch them and
return them to you. She has a bark like a walrus or a
seal (pretty mighty for such a petite girl). I guess
it’s that “Westitude” and not wanting to be ignored.
Tiffany,
who will be 9 years old, has a skin condition,
Malassezia, on the inside of her thigh
http://www.westiemed.org/health/malassezia/.
She also
has Dry Eye. She will require medication and treatment
for her eyes for the rest of her life. Read
about caring for a dog with Dry Eye…
http://www.sfbaywestieclub.com/dryeye.htm
http://www.veterinaryvision.com/public_forum/DryEye.htm.
She is
totally sweet and allows you to perform all procedures
to her.
Tiffany
will be in foster care and require extensive medical
treatment and medication for some time. Until her skin
clears up, she cannot be spayed. At that time her
teeth will also be cleaned.
It is
because of Westies like Tiffany that our Rescue
program exists. It is because of people like you that
we can continue to do so. If you would like to donate
to Tiffany’s Fund, you can click below to make a
donation through PayPal. Any
donation no matter how small will be greatly
appreciated!
